How To Get Younger-Looking, Healthier Skin

As more and more people worry about the environment, work-related pressures, and rising prices, the skin is among the first parts of the body that show the visible effects of all these stresses. As the person constantly get s exposed to stress and other pressures, wrinkles, puffy eyes, dull skin complexion and other abnormalities start to manifest. Here are some hints, and facts, on how to keep the skin looking and feeling younger.

What Are Wrinkles?
Wrinkles are often caused by years of unprotected skin exposure to the sun. As the person ages, the skin loses subcutaneous fat and other elements, making it thinner and more susceptible to infections and other blemishes. As a result of the constant exposure to external elements, the appearance of wrinkles on the skin increases.

Simple And effective ways To Keep Skin Supple And Healthy
There are actually a lot of simple and relatively inexpensive ways, for keeping the skin younger-looking and healthy. Here are some of the inexpensive and easy-to-follow suggestions.

– Use A Sunscreen. Sunscreens help prevent sunburn, photo-damaged skin, actinic keratosis, and certain skin cancers. Make sure you regularly use moisturizers with sunscreen, to get adequate protection from sun damage every day.

– Get 7 To 9 Hours Of Sleep. When a person doesn’t get enough sleep, the body loses enough opportunity to revitalize and repair itself. If a person lacks sleep, he will age much faster, and will be more prone to a wide array of diseases and infections.

– Use Topical Tretinoin And Other Creams. Topical tretinoin, according to dermatologists, can help improve fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. The downside with using topical tretinoin however, is that you need to continue using it, in order to maintain its effect on your skin.

– Stop Smoking. Cigarette smoking increases wrinkles, especially if the smoker is a woman. It can also make the woman’s complexion look reddish and orange-looking, and can also produce pale or yellowish hues in some areas. Smoking also causes puffiness, gray hair, and leads to the development of yellow stains on the fingers. Overall, smoking speeds up the premature aging of skin.
– Have Your Daily Dose of Vitamin C. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a nutrient that the body does not naturally produce, therefore we need to get it from other food sources. Vitamin C helps treat cold and flu, and also helps prevent skin aging. The effects of vitamin C have been analyzed for decades, and more and more research has shown that it has been helpful for many people. Vitamin C works in two ways – as an antioxidant, and as a tool for collagen formation. Vitamin C can act as the body’s first line of defense against free radicals and other infection-causing microbes. Vitamin C also helps in the formation, maintenance and structural stability of collagen, a key component of most tissues.

How To Get Younger and Fresher Looking Skin

The skin is the largest organ in the body. It covers the outer parts of the body, and consists of multiple layers of ectodermal tissue. The skin also protects the underlying bones, ligaments, internal organs and muscles. Nearly all of human skin is also covered with hair follicles. Because skin primarily interacts with the outside environment, it’s often prone to damage by the sun, wind, water and other external elements. Here are a number of helpful tips on how to obtain fresher and younger looking skin.

Protect Your Skin From Sun Exposure
The sun’s rays contain vitamin D, especially in the early morning. However, excessive sun exposure in the mid and late afternoon can be damaging to the skin. To prevent the occurrence of sun spots, sun burn, wrinkles and other sun-induced damage, protect your skin by wearing the appropriate sunscreen. A good skin care protection cream should be at least SPF 15. Some foundations, and other cheaper creams and lotions contain SPF protection. Moisturizing your skin also helps to keep it supple and soft. Most skin care products sold in groceries and pharmacies contain approved ingredients for effective skin care.

Avoid Smoking
Smoking not only causes lung cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other life-threatening ailments, but it also creates free radicals, which damage the skin, cause wrinkles, and speed up the aging process.

Watch What You Eat
What you eat also affects your skin. Free radicals, which can be derived from eating too much processed foods, can break down collagen, causing the skin to sag and break down. Among the foods that are good for the skin include shrimp, sunflower seeds, multigrain bread, cereals and other natural foods that are rich in selenium. Foods rich in Vitamin C also help fight free radicals and protect the skin from the sun’s damaging effects. Fish also contains antioxidants and essential fatty acids like omega 3, which help keep the skin supple and soft.

Drink Lots Of Water, And Eat A Balanced Diet
Water helps quench thirst, and it helps keep the skin hydrated as well. Water also helps flush out any toxins and other impurities. Health experts stress that adults should drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water each day. In order to keep skin supple and healthy, you should also refrain from constantly losing and gaining weight, since this unpredictable cyclestretche3s the skin and makes it appear saggy and older. If you wish to lose weight, remember to keep the weight off, to maintain normal skin tone.

Effective skin care need not be expensive and hazardous. A visit to your dermatologist or health care professional will offer you a lot of important insights on affordable and effective skin care practices and regimens. From moisturizing the skin to keeping it soft, there are lots of ways for maintaining soft, radiant skin, and reversing the aging process.

How Eating Right Helps Keep You Healthy And Young

Ask a hundred people if they want to grow and look old, and you won’t hear anyone say yes. And since everyone wants to look and feel young and healthy, there are actually a number of easy-to-follow steps for doing this. According to health experts, eating well and exercising regularly can enable the individual to achieve his or her goals of staying young and healthy for longer periods. Here’s how eating right helps keep you young and healthy.

Consume Healthy Fats
Not all fats are actually bad for the body. The unhealthy fats are generally found in processed foods, while the healthy fats are often found in vegetables, fruits. Veggies and fruits are often good sources of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and phytonutrients, which protect the body against cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Also hike your consumption of fish oils, flax seed oil and calcium. Calcium, when taken with magnesium, helps the body maintain strong bones, repairs cell damage and aids in absorption.

Reduce Stress, And Exercise Regularly
Stress is bad for the body, and for our looks as well. Stress makes us look and feel old, and it also weakens our body’s immune system. Although we can’t completely eliminate stress from our lives, we can actually learn healthier responses to it. To minimize stress, have a realistic view on how much you take on each day, by eliminating a number of items from your to-do list, and by regularly meditating and concentrating on good thoughts. Sex is also a good exercise, which eliminates stress, and keeps the body fit. Sex keeps the mind active, and also helps in effective blood circulation.

Strike a Balance In Your Life
According to aging experts, one of the keys to reversing the ill-effects of aging, is through bringing together all the senses (sight, sound, smell, taste and touch), and direct the mind to improving each of them. One of the best mind and body balancing exercises is Yoga, meditation and other ensemble exercises. Dancing and standing on one leg also helps to keep balance in mind and body.

Use Your Brain
Use your brain to learn new stuff. Read books, magazines, newspapers and other in engaging materials. A large segment of medical studies have concluded that older adults who regularly engage in stimulating mind activities are less prone to crippling diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Drink Lots Of Fluids, And Eat Balanced Meals
Water is an element which quenches thirst, and rinses toxins, poisons and other irritants from the body. Try drinking organic herbal teas, flat mineral water, or wheat grass juice. Also ensure that you consume 5 small but balanced meals each day. Eat a light breakfast, as well as eat a heavier lunch. Dinner however, should be light, with a few carbohydrates, sugar, fruit and bread.

Effective Tips On How To Stay Young Forever

While most of us believe that aging is a process that cannot be stopped, much less controlled, modern science has actually come up with a number of innovative ways for beating the ill-effects of aging, and for even reversing some of aging’s visible signs. Here are a number of suggestions on how to stay young and healthy forever.

Increase Your Intake of Essential Fatty Acids

Essential fatty acids are natural compounds that can actually help reverse the aging process. According to the American Heart Association, consuming fish twice a week, or taking omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acid supplements and capsules, can help to enhance the cells. Because omega 3 and 6 help to keep the cells flexible and permeable, they help keep the brain active, and reduce visible effects such as wrinkling and discoloration of the skin.

Eat Lots Of vegetables

The consumption of large amounts of colorful vegetables, like orange, red or yellow-colored veggies, helps to keep you young and fit. Brightly-colored vegetables often contain large amounts of beta-carotene antioxidants, which help fight damaging free radicals in the body. Beta carotene, when converted to vitamin A, also helps keep the skin and eyes in tiptop condition.

Maintain A Healthy Weight

Being overweight or obese can damage your arteries, and make you look old too. Fat often resides in artery walls, where it clogs regular blood flow and increases the risk of getting a heart attack. If the person is underweight, his bones and muscles don’t get much help too, since they are often robbed of the required building materials which provide the body energy and carbohydrates. An underweight individual also faces higher risks of getting menopause or osteoporosis.

Get Lots Of cardiovascular Exercise

The heart is a hard-working machine which pumps blood into the brain and other body organs. Ensure that you work your heart out, by performing a series of cardiovascular exercises. In keeping the heart strong, blood pressure is lowered and the blood flows into more areas in the body. Good blood flow also helps keep the skin supple and healthy, and it also keeps the brain and digestive system active.

Live a Healthy And Balanced Lifestyle

Practice living a balanced and healthy lifestyle, by reducing alcohol consumption, and quitting smoking. Smoking is notorious for increasing free radicals that lead to cell death, and also destroys the lungs. Excessive alcohol intake also increases the person’s chances of getting heart disease, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. It would also be helpful if the individual constantly uses his brain to think and learn. Keep your mind busy by answering crossword puzzles, math problems, or by reading stimulating books and magazines. A person who regularly stimulates his brain is generally less prone to deteriorating diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Eat Right, And Stay Fit & Young Forever

Aging is a process that cannot be stopped, nor fully reversed. However, modern science has devised a number of ways for slowing down the aging process. And because every person longs to stay healthy and young for longer periods, health experts stress that there are a number of easy to follow and relatively inexpensive methods for achieving this. Here’s how eating right can help the individual stay fit and healthy for longer periods.

Don’t Let Stress Bother You
Before we go to the eating part, let’s first take a look at how stress affects the body, and speeds up the aging process. Stress weakens the soul, and bogs down the body’s immune system. It also makes the person look and feel old and listless. Although it’s quite impossible to keep yourself stress-free all day, there are simple ways to keep it at bay. and it also weakens our body’s immune system. To reduce stress, the individual needs to have a realistic view of life, and learn to be contented what he currently has, or what he has currently achieved. One way of reducing stress is by reducing the number of items that you need to do each day, and by doing a number of relaxation and meditation techniques, to ease the worries and soothe the senses.

Eat More Veggies, And Healthy Fats
Not all fats have a negative effect on the body. Most unhealthy fats are often found in processed foods, as these contain lots of preservatives and artificial chemicals. The good fats on the other hand, are naturally found in green, leafy vegetables and brightly-colored fruits. These fruits and vegetables are also good sources of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants.

Increase You Intake of Calcium And Fish Oil
Calcium is a mineral that’s normally found in milk, meat, fish, dairy products like cheese, and other food items. These are good for maintaining good bone, eye, skin and hair growth, and they also help keep the skin youthful and glowing. Fish, which contains essential fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6, are great for keeping the skin plump and youthful, and help the body fight against infections and diseases.

Relax, And Do Meditation Exercises
Relaxation and meditation are also keys to getting that youthful glow and vigor. According to health and wellness experts, Yoga, meditation and ensemble exercises are perfect for soothing the senses, relaxing the muscles and nerves, and keeping the mind in proper balance. The other recreational activities that help rejuvenate the mind and body include dancing, singing, brisk walking and light jogging.

Learn New Things
Regularly stimulating the brain also helps keep the individual healthy and active. Take time to read good books and magazines, newspapers, as well as spend more time delving on crossword puzzles, math problems, brain twisters and other mind-engaging games and leisure activities.

It is old but works. Have everyone write down one good or positive thing, of everyone else in the group.

Give them slips of paper with everyone’s names and have them write on it. Make a pile or basket for each person, then when all the slips are in have them read their basket’s slips out loud.

Donna asks…

Self esteem activity idea needed?

We want to do a chain activity for 5th graders. We want it to revolve around self esteem and for it to be inspiring.

MKWeb answers:

A classic self esteem activity is to take turns saying something nice about another person. So if you do it in a chain or circle, person #1 says something nice about person #2, #2 speaks to #3 and so on.

They may need help in coming up with things to say, and they may need to write things down (so you can double check what they are planning on saying).

Michael asks…

I am starting college in a few days, anyone tips?

I am wondering if anyone has any advice for college. I am really interested in your specific experiences and just everything you want to share about your college (or freshman year) experience. If you have things to share about transferring schools and what not that can directly help me, it would be a bonus 🙂

I am literally interested in everything about the college experience. Everything from what you ate, where you studied, how much you partied, how you managed your money, good deals on stuff to buy, things to watchout for, things to do before leaving college, etc etc.

I really have no one in my life who i feel comfortable enough with to ask these kind of things. Also my goal and vision for college is different from the majority of guys my age. I’m more interested in self improvement like working out, cooking the right food for myself, really learning things, and stuff like that. a lot of my friends just worry about sex&party so it’s hard for me to connect with them on this topic.

MKWeb answers:

Well it has been a while but I still remember that college experience was the best I have ever had.

I would suggest that the first thing is to make sure you have an adviser and that you do see him when you have any problems. Be early in registration as courses get filled fast. First year explore the different subjects because you might want to change majors in your second year. If you have a problem with a teacher or a course make sure you drop the course before you have to pay for it fully and that your grade affects your GPA. As for GPA try to start with high GPA as it is easier to get it down them get it up. Finally there are a lot of sharks out there looking for freshmen who have not experience. So if something is too good to be true avoid it. College is a good time to start building your credit line. I took a student visa and still have it now. My credit is perfect, this experience never spend too much and always pay on time. With time you will make lots of friend and out of these some will remain for a life time. So choose well who you hang out with. Good luck and enjoy these years…

What do people like to read about on internet?

Your Questions About Self Development Books

Steven asks…

What are the best self-development books published in the last 20 or so years?

MKWeb answers:

These are the best sellers in the United States not necessarily the best.
Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, John Gray
Body-for-Life, Bill Phillips, Michael D’Orso
Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution, Robert C. Atkins
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey

Joseph asks…

Self development books say that any habit which is follwed for 21 days will become a habit. Is it true?

MKWeb answers:

Well, there are evidences about that. But i would suggest that in order for this to be successful, you need to have a reinforcing factor. For a behavior has a greater chance of being repeated if it is rewarded. Eventually, the behavior will become a habit. This is conditioning anyway, and you can always condition yourself to do something..^_^

Laura asks…

This is my opinion about self development books . Do you agree with me ?

Please say ” Yes ” or “No” (with comments if any) with each point .

1.Nobody can give you a strategy for success . Everyone has to develop their own strategy .

2.It is better to behave/say more natural way than act as per these books[ like ” Always positive , always happy ,etc)]

3.When you try to follow these books , you will lose many of your natural strengths & good qualities .

4.All these books concentrate more on future than present . So you are not able to enjoy the present moment.

5.Our learning mainly come from just day to day observations . These books cannot change us much . If it changes also it is only temporary .

6.These books doesn’t consider cultural factors & realities .

7.It is better NOT TO READ THIS KIND OF BOOKS .It is better to “accept yourself as you are instead of changing you so much & enjoy the life” . Observe your surroundings and learn as per your experience .

MKWeb answers:

Yes and no. It’s a huge genre. Some of it is a bit of light philosophy and some of it is pure crap. Some of it has theology in it and makes that more palatable to the masses.

I think you can buy “Why bad things happen to good people,” in this section. That book has some helpful things to say.

I think you need to be a critical thinker when you read–and unfortunately if you are needing help you can’t always be that. You make good points but lets not ban any books. Just proceed with caution.

Sandy asks…

How can I avoid telling my boss and coworkers why I’m taking time off, without raising suspicion?

I’m planning to take a weekly acting class, for my own selfimprovement. I really don’t want my boss and coworkers to know about it, and I want to keep it private, for certain reasons that I won’t elaborate on.

But I will have to ask my coworkers to do some of my work during the hours I take off. I’ll do some of their work in exchange. It’s fair, but it’s inevitable they’ll ask why I’m taking that time off.

Can anyone suggest some normal sounding reasons (lies) I can tell them that I’m taking a few hours off every Wednesday for a few weeks?

That way I won’t have to just say “it’s private,” which people don’t react to very well. Usually when I say that, people distrust me and get this attitude like “what’s this guy’s problem?” or “what’s he up to that he won’t even tell us?”
I appreciate the answers so far. My boss and coworkers don’t act very professional–if I tell them something vague like “I have things to attend to,” they are not shy about pressing for details.

I have a coworker who gave a reason like that and he refused to elaborate. It led to rumors and people talking behind his back.

I’m trying to find a lie that is specific but simple, and won’t lead to more questions. Thanks for all suggestions you can make.

Mandy asks…

Will I die a virgin because of how retarded society is?

Hi trolls and feminists, long time reader first time poster.

I’m 23 and just recently got out of grad school for programming. I’ve never been on a date or kissed a girl. I’ve never had female friends. Needless to say, I’m a virgin. I’m very quiet by nature. People tell me to ask girls out or be less ‘shy’. I’m not shy, and what does confidence have to do how much someone talks? Most loud-mouthed people are insecure with themselves, needing validation from others to fuel their fragile egos.

I make more money than most people my age. I stay in shape. I’m not bad looking. I’m just a ‘loner’. I don’t make approach women for the same reasons I don’t talk to men. I regard prostitutes and online dating as beneath me.

I won’t change to meet society’s expectations of how a man should act. My selfimprovement ends at volunteer work, working out, night classes and dressing nicely. I don’t have any desire to be more outgoing, try to make friends, or to ask women out. It’s true I’m expecting women to come to me if they’re interested.

Will I die a virgin?
I sure am glad it’s in no way hypocritical for women to expect men to ask them out, but for a man to have the same attitude it’s wrong.

I mean hey, someone might mistake that for one of those ‘gender roles’ you feminists love to gripe about.

MKWeb answers:

If you stay stubborn and refuse to meet people halfway, then yes.

The world doesn’t revolve around you. No ones going to go out of their way to find you specifically. People have their own lives too.

Society is not retarded. You don’t have anyone to blame for your social retardation but yourself.

Hm hm…I’ve asked plenty of guys out rather than hide in my house and blog on the internet about how no guys ask me out.

Nancy asks…

What are the chances I will die a virgin?

Hi feminists and trolls. Long time reader, first time poster . Posting this once more to see if I get interesting responses.

I’m 23 and just recently got out of grad school for programming. I’ve never asked a girl out, been on a date, or kissed a girl. I’ve never had female friends. Needless to say, I’m a virgin. Being quiet is in my nature, and generally I don’t to talk to people unless they talk to me. I’ve never made friends easily. People frequently tell me to ask girls out or be less ‘shy’ and more ‘confident’.

At risk of sounding pompous, I’m doing better than most. I make more money than most people my age. I stay in shape, and I’m not bad looking. I don’t have any confidence issues, I’m just a ‘loner’. I don’t talk to women first for the same reasons I don’t talk to men.

I won’t change to meet society’s expectations of how a man should act. My selfimprovement ends at volunteer work, working out, taking night classes and dressing nicely. I don’t have any desire to be more outgoing, try to make friends, or to ask women out. I have no problem going through life alone, the same way I was born and will likely die. I’d just prefer not to live this way if I don’t have to. It’s true I’m expecting women to come to me if they’re interested. I won’t resort to prostitutes or online dating.

I’m asking you my lovely, vicious feminists to be my crystal ball. Will I die a virgin?
“If you don’t reach out to ANYONE, not even for friendship, then the odds are poor. You have to actually have met someone for her to be a potential girlfriend.”

And why should it have to be the man ‘reaching out’? This is just another gender role.

Your Questions About Self Confidence

Carol asks…

Self confidence?

I have asked a related question earlier and have already marked the best answer. I want to know any good sites that can help in boosting self confidence and control.

MKWeb answers:

If you want a website, then google it… But if you want some good practical advice, here is what I’ve found works for me:

The first step to building confidence, in my opinion, is finding out what you truly want. Over the next week, whenever you feel down, depressed, insecure, or frustrated, start making a list of all the things you want. They can be little things, like, “I want a glass of water” or big things, like “I want to ride around the entire world in a hot air baloon.” Just write down everything and don’t censor yourself. Then after a week, and even throughout the week, look at the list and decide which of those things you can do something about. Then start doing it! Some of the things might require little steps first, but if you really want it, then you can do it. As you start seeing that you can do things that make you happy, your confidence will grow!

Maria asks…

Do you believe you have selfconfidence ? What do you do to show others that you have confidence in yourself?
If you don’t have much selfconfidence why do you think that is?
& anything else you would like to add !

Thanks !

MKWeb answers:

I don’t think being self-confident is in conflict with actually wanting other people to notice it! Even if u do care what others think of u,u could still be smug and confident which in these days are quite valuable qualities. In order to make other people see u are confident,u should first convince yourself that u are the one that matters!
Good luck 🙂

Chris asks…

Self Confidence?

I am having periods of low confidence in social situations, and try as I might, I see no reason for them. I can be an extremely charming and outgoing person during those rare spells when I am comfortable with myself, but most of the time I am usually shy, even with some of my closest friends. I am really comfortable with myself, everything, my looks, my thoughts, my way of speaking, but I can’t seem to build up my self-esteem. I believe even my friends accept me as I am, but I somehow lose all my confidence in their presence. I am going to shift to a new school this month, meet new people, make new friends and this problem really bothers me. How can I build up my self-esteem?

I’m sure I’m weak in my relationships. Usually I begin a good relationship with the other people but I can’t continue it for a long time.
I think this is why I don’t have many friends.
How can I improve my self confidence and relationships?
Can anybody help me?

I have almost no selfconfidence. I had an abusive relationship, which destroyed my selfconfidence. I just want to get it back. I already go to therapy, and I don’t want to go back to group therapy. Please help!

MKWeb answers:

Start with the way you talk to yourself. Try not criticizing.
Your abusive relationship is over and in the past. Don’t give it anymore free room in your thinking.
Go for it. You’re worth it.
